Die Potyviridae sind eine Familie von RNA-Viren, die mehr als 30 % der bekannten Pflanzenviren stellen.^[3][4] Einige Vertreter besitzen eine agrarwirtschaftliche Bedeutung als Pathogene von Nutzpflanzen. Der Name leitet sich vom Kartoffel-Virus Y (Potato virus Y) als früherer Typspezies der Familie ab.
