As termodesulfobacterias (Thermodesulfobacteria) son un pequeno grupo de bacterias que se consideran un filo [1], formado por bacterias termófilas[2] redutoras de sulfato.
O xénero principal é Thermodesulfobacterium, que é unha das bacterias redutoras de sulfato máis termófilas, pero non un hipertermófilo. Anaerobio estrito que utiliza lactato, piruvato e etanol como doantes de electróns para reducir sulfato a sulfuro de hidróxeno. Ten lípidos con enlaces éter e cun poliisoprenol característico e algúns ácidos graxos.[3]
