Due to rain, it was actually run on August 1, at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Contested over 138 of the scheduled 160 laps on the 2.5-mile (4.0 km) speedway, it was the 21st race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Chris Buescher scored his first victory at Pocono after the race was called for fog, the race had 19 lead changes among different drivers and seven cautions for 31 laps, and one red flag.
