The 2024 Rhode Island State Senate elections will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, with the primary election to be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.[2] Rhode Island voters will select state senators in all 38 seats of the Senate to serve two-year terms.[3]

The election will coincide with United States national elections and Rhode Island state elections, including U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and Rhode Island House.[4]

Following the previous election in 2022, Democrats held a 33-to-5-seat supermajority over Republicans. However, Democratic Senator Frank Lombardo died on February 21, 2024, which resulted in a vacancy in the 25th district.[5] Therefore, Democrats hold a supermajority of 32 seats compared to the five seats held by Republicans. Republicans would have to net 15 seats to flip control of the chamber. [6]
