Capricorn (♑︎) (Greek: Αιγόκερως, romanizedAigókerōs, Latin for "horned goats") is the tenth astrological sign in the zodiac out of twelve total zodiac signs, originating from the constellation of Capricornus, the goat.[2] It spans the 270–300th degree of the zodiac, corresponding to celestial longitude. It is a Saturn-ruled sign, Mars is in its exaltation. The Sun transits this sign from approximately December 22 to January 19 in western astrology.[3] Capricorn is one of the three earth signs, alongside Virgo and Taurus.[4] a negative sign,[5][6] and one of the four cardinal signs. Capricorn's opposite sign is Cancer.[7]
