Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) is a training, continuing education, and professional development platform for finance, banking, and investment management professionals, providing courses and certifications in financial modeling, valuation, corporate finance, and other business administration topics. The skills CFI deems important for modern finance at the most basic and fundamental level are the ability to use spreadsheets (like Microsoft Excel), presentation slides (like PowerPoint), and visuals for data and information visualization, as well as underlying knowledge of accounting and business strategy (strategic management).
CFI is a provider of professional certification programs including the Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA),[1] Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst (CBCA), Capital Markets and Securities Analyst (CMSA), Business Intelligence and Data Analyst (BIDA), and Corporate Finance Foundations (CFF) certification programs and professional designations.[2][3] All CFI courses are delivered online.
The organization was incorporated as a joint venture with MDA Training (MDA), a London, England, United Kingdom-based financial training company founded in 1988 by Professor Walter Reid, who was one of the founding professors of the London Business School (LBS) of the University of London.[4] The Corporate Finance Institute is currently headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In 2021, Corporate Finance Institute acquired Macabacus, a Microsoft Office Add-In for finance professionals, with tens of thousands of monthly and annual subscribers.[5]
