Joshua Walter Kimmich (German pronunciation: [ˈjoːzu̯aː ˈkɪmɪç];[5] born 8 February 1995) is a German professional footballer who plays as a right-back and midfielder for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and the Germany national team. Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world,[6][7] he is known for his versatility, aggression and playmaking ability,[8][9][10][11] and has been compared with former Bayern Munich and Germany captain Philipp Lahm.[12][13]

After coming through RB Leipzig's youth academy, Kimmich began playing for the club's first team in 2013. Two years later, he joined Bayern Munich.[14] In the 2019–20 season, after winning the continental treble with Bayern Munich, Kimmich was included in the UEFA Team of the Year, the FIFA FIFPro Men's World11,[15] and was recognized as the UEFA Champions League Defender of the Season.[16]
