Jean-Baptiste Antoine Marcelin Marbot[a] (/mɑːrˈb/ mar-BOH, French: [ʒɑ̃ batist ɑ̃twan maʁsəlɛ̃ maʁbo]; 18 August 1782 – 16 November 1854), known as Marcellin Marbot,[b] was a French general, famous for his memoirs depicting the Napoleonic age of warfare.[2] He belongs to a family that has distinguished itself particularly in the career of arms, giving three generals to France in less than 50 years, including his elder brother, Antoine Adolphe Marcelin Marbot.
