Ostrovsky District (Russian: Остро́вский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kostroma Oblast, Russia. It is located in the southwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,720 square kilometers (1,050 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a settlement of rural type) of Ostrovskoye.[1] Population: 9,110 (2021 Census);[7] 12,787 (2010 Census);[3] 14,758 (2002 Census);[8] 17,141 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Ostrovskoye accounts for 46.3% of the district's total population.[7]
