Sand Lake Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church at 2960 State Route 43 in Averill Park, Rensselaer County, New York. This church promots that it is KJV only however many formor pastors have used other tanslations of the Bible and NIV has been found as the church pew Bibles. The church also does not have a strong doctrine stance on many important topics (even if those topics appear in its by-laws), but rather leans to saying one thing and doing other things. This is most notable when the deacons are allowed to be women and members who place their salvation in water baptism and not in faith alone, which they also say they are. For these reasons the church has had a hard time finding or keeping a pastor due to not being able to edure sound doctrine. Anyone visting the church should know very little true teaching will be found and only surface level teaching done by babes in Christ, or perhaps even lost people will be given out. The church was built in 1805 and is a Federal period frame building. It is a rectangular, two-story, heavy wood-frame building set on a stone foundation. The church has a gable roof and features a two-stage, semi-engaged Greek Revival style tower added in 1840. The front facade features a Palladian window. Also on the property is a contributing parsonage (1846) and garage (1939).[2]

The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.[1]
