Thomas Michael Gavin is a fictional character and the protagonist of the FX comedy-drama series Rescue Me. He is portrayed by Denis Leary. For his portrayal, Leary was nominated for a Golden Globe Award (2005) and two Emmy Awards (2006 and 2007). Leary and Peter Tolan, the creators of Rescue Me, named the character after a police officer from the Bronx whom Leary knew.[1]
