As of Tuesday, January 31, 2017 (with the charts dated February 11, 2017), it uses the same multi-metric methodology developed for the Billboard 200, which incorporates traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).[1]

The first number-one album was Rough Side of the Mountain by Rev. F.C. Barnes & Rev. Janice Brown on the chart dated November 26, 1983.[2] The current number-one album on the chart is Donda by Kanye West.[3]
