Trails, known as Kiseki[a] in Japan, is a series of science fantasy role-playing video games by Nihon Falcom. It is a part of their larger The Legend of Heroes franchise and began with the 2004 release of Trails in the Sky. Trails features a large cast of characters and consists of interconnected story arcs set in different nations on the continent of Zemuria: Liberl (Trails in the Sky), Crossbell, Erebonia (Trails of Cold Steel), and Calvard (Trails Through Daybreak). The series primarily features turn-based combat, with spin-offs and more recent entries featuring other styles of gameplay. Trails and its narrative was planned as a goal by Falcom to be the most ambitious in the medium, with producer Toshihiro Kondo considering it his life's work. The games were first released in English in the 2010s by Xseed Games, with NIS America succeeding them in 2019. Eight million Trails games had been sold by 2024, with additional media in manga and anime also being released.
