WJFK (1580 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting a sports gambling radio format. Licensed to Morningside, Maryland, and serving the Washington metropolitan area, the station is owned by Audacy, Inc. The radio studios are in Southeast DC in the Navy Yard neighborhood. Programming is supplied by the co-owned BetQL Network and Infinity Sports Network.
By day, WJFK is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations. Because 1580 AM is a Canadian clear channel frequency, WJFK must greatly reduce power at night to 270 watts, when radio waves travel farther. It has a directional signal at all times using a four-tower array. The transmitter is on Addison Road South (Maryland Route 458) near Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights, Maryland.[2]
