Welcome to WikiProject Devon
This is a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of the English county of Devon.
Located in the south west of the United Kingdom, Devon's county town is Exeter and its largest city is Plymouth.
- Scope
- Articles about all subjects related to Devon, with special emphasis on geography (settlements, landmarks, etc.)
- People are included, but not those whose only connection with the county is that they were born or died here.
- Goals
- On a day-to-day basis, keep articles on Devon free from vandalism and ensure that they are not degraded by sub-standard edits. The list of recent changes below shows the edits that have been made recently to articles under this project.
- Improve existing articles by editing them. This includes the addition of new referenced content, copyediting (improvements to style, grammar, layout, spelling, etc.), and dealing with problem tags – see the list here (warning: there are a lot!).
- Identify omissions in the coverage of Devon. Suggestions for new articles can be made on this project's Talk page, but the bold way is to write a new article yourself.
- Identify existing or newly-created articles that should be included in this project and assess them, as described below.
- The ultimate aim is to improve all Devon-related articles towards Featured Article status. This will take a long time, but we work towards it by a gradual process of improvement through these stages: Stub > Start > Class C > Class B > Good Article > Featured Article. Only 5 steps from the most basic entry!
