Emperor Ming of Western Liang ((西)梁明帝; 542 – 1 July 585[1]), personal name Xiao Kui (蕭巋), courtesy name Renyuan (仁遠), was an emperor of the Chinese Western Liang dynasty. He, like his father Emperor Xuan and his son Emperor Jing, controlled little territory and relied heavily on military support from the Northern Zhou dynasty and its successor state, the Sui dynasty.

  1. ^ According to Yang Jian's biography in Book of Sui, Xiao Kui died on the jiashen day of the 5th month of the 5th year of the Kai'huang era. This corresponds to 1 Jul 585 on the Julian calendar. ([开皇五年]五月甲申,诏置义仓。梁主萧岿殂,...) Sui Shu, vol.01. Xiao Kui's biography in Book of Sui indicated that he was 44 (by east Asian reckoning) when he died. (岿在位二十三年,年四十四薨,) Sui Shu, vol.79. Thus by calculation, his birth year should be in 542.
