The Cross and Flame is a registered trademark and the use is supervised by the General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church. Rules for non-commercial internet use
The Cross and Flame is the symbol of the United Methodist church, adopted in 1968. The cross represents Christ while the flame represents the Holy Spirit of pentecost.
The flame is not related to the Ku Klux Klan practice of burning crosses.
