Gary Kildall (19 de mayo de 1942-11 de julio de 1994)^[1]​ fue un informático estadounidense, sobresaliente, creador del lenguaje de programación PL/M, del sistema operativo CP/M (posteriormente DR-DOS ), de la interfaz gráfica de usuario GEM Desktop, y fundador de Digital Research.^[2]​

On graduating from the University of Washington with a PhD in computer science he taught at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. While living with his wife Dorothy and their two children, Scott and Kristin, at 781 Bayview Avenue, Pacific Grove he also did consulting work in an office in his backyard workshop for microprocessor manufacturer Intel Corporation. To speed this work, in 1974 he wrote a program called CP/M (Control Program for Microcomputers) that served as one of the fundamental enabling technologies of the personal computer (PC) revolution.»
