Oscar al miglior attore 2024Cillian Murphy (AFI: [ˈkʰɪliən] in inglese[1]; Cork, 25 maggio 1976) è un attore irlandese.
Dopo aver inizialmente intrapreso una carriera da musicista[2], iniziò a recitare a teatro e a prendere parte a pellicole indipendenti irlandesi verso la fine degli anni '90. È principalmente noto per aver interpretato Thomas Shelby nella serie televisiva Peaky Blinders. Nel 2020 The Irish Times lo ha nominato come uno dei più grandi attori cinematografici irlandesi.[3]
Ha collaborato con il regista Christopher Nolan interpretando lo Spaventapasseri nella trilogia del cavaliere oscuro[4] (2005-2012), Robert Michael Fischer nel thriller Inception (2010), un soldato nel dramma Dunkirk (2017) e J. Robert Oppenheimer nell'epopea biografica Oppenheimer (2023).[5] Per quest'ultima pellicola si è aggiudicato un Premio BAFTA[6], un premio Golden Globe[7], un Critics' Choice Award, due Screen Actors Guild Awards[8] e un Premio Oscar nella categoria "migliore attore protagonista"[9][10][11].
