Oscar al miglior attore 1997Geoffrey Roy Rush (Toowoomba, 6 luglio 1951) è un attore australiano.
Rush è un Triple Crown of Acting, avendo vinto un Premio Oscar, un Tony Award e un Emmy Award. Ha vinto l'Oscar per l'interpretazione di David Helfgott nel film Shine (1997),[1] tre BAFTA Award, due Golden Globe[2] e quattro Screen Actors Guild Award (su nove candidature). Tra il 2011 e il 2017 è stato il presidente dell'Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts[3][4] e nel 2012 è stato nominato "australiano dell'anno".[5]
Tra i suoi film più famosi ci sono la saga di Pirati dei Caraibi (2003-2017), in cui interpreta Hector Barbossa, oltre che Elizabeth (1998), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Prima ti sposo poi ti rovino (2003), Il discorso del re (2010), La migliore offerta (2013), Storia di una ladra di libri (2013).
