Camden je grad u američkoj državi New Jersey smješten u istoimenom okrugu, kome predstavlja administrativno sjedište,GR6[14]. Smješten je s druge strane rijeke Delaware, nasuprot Philadelphije. Prema popisu iz 2010. godine imao je ukupno 77.344 stanovnika,[7][9], a što predstavlja pad od 2560 (3.2%) u odnosu na 79.904 stanovnika popisanih 2000. godine.[15] Camden se smatra 12. najmnogoljudnijom općinom države, dok je 2000 bio na 10. mjestu.[8]

Camden je postao 13. februara 1828. kada je od inkorporirana od dijelova dotadašnjeg naselja Newton Township. Tada je još uvijek bio dio Okruga Gloucester. 13. marta 1844. Camden je postao dio novoformiranog Okruga Camden[16]

Dugo vremena je bio poznat kao uspješno i propulzivno industrijsko područje, da bi danas bio poznatiji po problemima gradskog propadanja i korupcije. Tri gradonačelnika su zbog korupcije osuđeni na zatvorske kazne, a od kojih je posljednji bio Milton Milan godine 2000.[17] Od 2005. do 2012. je gradskim gradskim školama i policijom neposredno upravljala država New Jersey.

29. oktobra 2012. je FBI u svom izvještaju objavio kako je Camden prvoi po broju nasilnih zločina u kategoriji gradova većih od 50.000 stanovnika.[18] Godine 2008. Camden je imao najvišu stopu kriminala u SAD sa 2333 nasilnih zločina na 100.000 stanovnika, dok je nacionalni prosjek bio 455 na 100.000 stanovnika .[19]

Godine 2009. su javne škole Camdena potrošile 23.770 $ na učenika za školsku godinu 2009–10 school year[20] a oko dvije trećine učenika završava školovanje. Dva od pet stanovnika su ispod granice siromaštva.[21]
