WWE Battleground, known as NXT Battleground since 2023, is a series of professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming shows made by WWE. The first event took place on October 6, 2013 at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York. It replaced Over the Limit as the October pay-per-view and was held in July for the next years.[1] Until 2017, it was a main roster event, with the 2017 event being exclusive to the SmackDown brand. The name is used again since 2023 for the May/June livestreaming event of the developmental brand NXT.[2]
